Caregiver Weekly Benefits: Who Qualifies?

If you were the primary unpaid caregiver for a child under 16, or for someone who cannot work for any reason, you may be eligible for a caregiver weekly benefit after a car accident. To qualify, your injuries from the car accident must prevent you from continuing to provide that care.

The amount you receive depends on how many people you were caring for at the time of the car accident, including children under 16 or anyone who is unable to hold employment.

Coverage for a child ends when they turn 16, unless they still require care because they’re unable to work. For anyone over 16, eligibility is based on whether the person truly cannot hold employment and how your car accident injuries prevent you from providing care.

Your benefit may increase or decrease if the number of people you care for—or their circumstances—change.
